Thailand Phuket 23 Jan-26 Jan 2011

Day 1

I figured I should probably blog about our Phuket trip before I can't remember the details :)

We took the 8.35am morning flight from Changi airport to Phuket. Prior to boarding, we did the usual; had our breakfast, then went over the perfume & cosmetics section to browse around. I had my heart already set on the Juicy Couture perfume so my nose was spared from the incessant sniffing this time round.

Breakfast at Burger King.

I even had the time to pose a photo with Mr. Harrods bear. Heehee.

It was a really short flight, the shortest I ever had. To pass the time though, I had my fix of Hongkong drama on the laptop.

Finally arrived at Phuket airport!

I did my research beforehand on the directions to find a metered cab and off we went. The whole trip to our hotel costs 450 baht.

Our room wasn't ready so we went over to the nearby area to look around, and ended up having breakfast(again) at the MacDonald along the beach.

Arriving at Courtyard Mariott on Patong beach...

Our huge huge suite! It was pure heaven...

They have the tv on the rotating mechanism, which can be swirled around. The channels sucks though.

A.k.a Mr. Bear area to put his stuffs.

A.k.a my area to put my stuffs...great for dinner time too...

Area for my makeup

Area for clothes...obviously

I luv the bathroom! Luv the gorgeous huge bathtub which was so fun to soak inside.

They also have this rainfall shower mechanism which was so fun to play with.

They even had double sinks.

Toiletries with pretty packaging...

Best of all, they have this hugeee balcony which overlooks the 3rd floor swimming pool.

Our first stop for the day was Phuket Town. With the utter absurdness of the local cab fares, we decide to take the local bus instead...

Interior of the bus, it looks like a lorry actually. But it was pretty fun to ride on it, like for one time.

After endless waiting and more waiting, the bus finally collected enough passengers to drive off. It was driving sooo slow, which we realized later was hoping to pick up more passengers along the beach. It took an hour to reach Phuket Town. But it was so cheap at 25 baht each person.

We finally reached!

I was starving....

Our lunch for the day...

My set...

Ending off with my favourite donut in the whole world!

After our lunch and some walking around the mall, we wanted to head over to the local night market. Thought of taking a cab, but it was so expensive, we decide to walk there instead. Wrong decision, Phuket infrastructure sucks, there was no walking path at all. We walk around, looking and looking, then walk back, then walk to the other side, walk some more, realize there is no traffic light to cross the road, then walk back, try to cross the bridge, then realize our attempt is futile, cross back again, finally gave up and took a cab. 200 baht for a 5 minute ride. We were too tired to bargain. Haha.

The night market was quite fun to walk around, but it gets so crowded later as the evening goes on. I managed to buy some small hair accessories and cutsey straps for my handphone. Bear managed to get his street food fix. So it wasn't a futile trip. We walk around, and around, trying to find a cab. I swear, there is no cab driving around the road trying to get your business. None. All are parked nicely in a dark area waiting to quote you a price. Take it or leave it. I think this really leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I probably will not come to Phuket again.

Never say never, but I think I really wouldn't want to come unless there is a really lucrative promotion. Bargained from 500 baht to 400 baht in the end and we managed to go back our hotel after all. I think we were lucky that we left early. Otherwise, I think the cab fee will be much higher.

Bear enjoys his street food fix while I ate my instant noodle that we bought from the supermarket earlier. Sigh.
