Bangkok 20th - 24th April 2012 Day 5

Day 5

Last breakfast for the day...

Today was our last day in Bangkok and I was feeling a bit sad, yet relieved cos my health was feeling worse and worse each day. Glad to be going home! There's always next time and I might have recovered by when it comes! Let's hope it will happen!

We took the cab from the hotel to Pratunam Market, wander around. There was a lot of stuffs, especially clothes but I guess it was just not up to my taste.

We then walked over to Platinum Mall under the humid and scorching sun(note to self: never go to Bangkok in April!!!) shopped around somemore, enjoyed my favourite crepe, then it was back to the hotel to check out.

Me!

After we deposited the luggage over at the Hotel, we took a cab to MBK. I was feeling worse and worse and Bear suggested we find some place to rest. Luckily, we spotted Au Bon Pain. It was cozy and our seats were tucked in the corner.

I enjoyed my favourite Chicken Caesar Wrap and rested until I was feeling slightly better. We then headed to do my manicure at Plaza 29.

Can you spot cookie monster???

We then took the BTS over to Central World Plaza to have our last meal in Bangkok. It was back at the Thai restaurant we went on the first day. After a great early dinner, we packet donuts from Mister Donut and drinks from Isetan supermarket.

Tom yum soup

Prawn cutlet & crab fishcakes

Pineapple fried rice

We strolled back to the hotel to collect our luggage and off we went to the Airport. I had no idea why but the drive to the Airport was looong...

But before you know it, it was home sweet home!

Bangkok 20th - 24th April 2012 Day 4

Day 4
Let's go back to Bangkok...

Today is Bear's massage day!

We woke up early, did the usual, and off we went to Terminal 21. I'm not a fan of massages myself(note:hate people touching me, funny I know :/). So, Bear tucked me inside the mall to shop and relax while he walked over to Healthland.

Breakfast for the day...

Basement

My first time all alone overseas! I was feeling a bit conscious initially but it was fun when I settled down. I explored the mall at a leisure pace. It's was fun shopping around :) I stopped for a donut break after an hour or so, then continued to roam around inside the mall.

They have these really pretty streets mimicking real Paris streets

Eventually, I got a bit tired of window shopping and stopped at Starbucks for a coffee break(our meeting place hehe), relaxed on the sofa while I waited for Bear. We then have lunch over at the shopping mall.

Bearbear studying the menu...

Delicious chicken!

We then took the BTS over to Siam Paragon, walked around the nearby Siam Discovery Centre. Then it was to Platinum Mall for Fuji!

Rilakkuma!!!!

Waiting for the food...

Sushi...

Tempura prawns (my favourite!)

We wanted to walked around Pratunam Market but I was feeling more sick than the previous days before and so had to forgo the idea.

We headed for Central World Plaza instead for pretzels!

Pretzels

We shopped around until 8 or 9 plus I think before taking a cab back to the hotel.

And that's day 4!!!

Bangkok 20th - 24th April 2012 Day 3

Day 3
We woke up early(as usual), have our buffet breakfast at the Hotel, went back the room to change and took a cab to CTC market.

My breakfast for the day

I was anticipating a futile trip. Frankly, I haven't got much luck with CTC market. It just wasn't meant to be. And it was HOT. I mean really HOT. Like hot HOT. And we were late when we got there so it was even hotter walking the scorching sun during Bangkok's hottest time of the year. I think if I do go back another time, I would pick January. Note to self: Always pick January!

We left after walking like an hour, empty handed, back to the hotel because I need to pee. Let just say my previous experience with the *ahem amenities over them left me scarred ever since. In fact, I can still remember how the toilet look like, and I had diarrhea. It was that bad, nightmare bad.

After having a short rest inside our room, we took a cab out to Chinatown Sampeng Lane! Sampeng Lane is really really long with 2 opposite narrow alleyways that led to shops and more shops, and more shops selling stuffs at dirt cheap prices.

We managed to comb the first end yesterday, and proceed to comb the opposite one today. And i saw lots and lots of fabrics! We walked, and walked, and after more walking, finally walked to the end of the aisle and saw KFC nearby, and off we went for a short lunch. It was great to escape the scorching heat. I have never been so glad to see KFC.

Recouping our energy after a yummy lunch, we walked back to that same aisle at Sampeng Lane, and did a reverse walk back to the front. I wanted to buy my fabrics but pity by the time we walked back, some of them have closed and I missed the chance to buy :(

It think it was around 4 plus when we left Chinatown and took a cab back to MBK. We shopped around until it was dinnertime, and stopped by for some Korean barbeque.

Then, we walked over to Siam Square, to shop around, and stopped by A&W for ice-cream waffles! Yum yum.

We walked opposite over to the stretch of shopping malls. Stopped by at Loft inside Siam Discovery Center. Love the stuffs they sell there! Them walked over to Siam Paragon for more leisure window shopping.

At the toy department

Super huge bear! I love Bangkok toy department, so many bears!!!

After having a full-filled time (note:just me!) hugging the bears for free, we bought some takeaways (Burger King for me & Fried Rice for Bear), then took a cab home and called it a night.

And that's day 3!

Bangkok 20th - 24th April 2012 Day 2

Day 2
We woke up early on our 2nd day in Bangkok, and went down Momo cafe for buffet breakfast.

Momo cafe

My breakfast for the day

I thought it was quite worth it to have breakfast included as there was no eateries located nearby, and the nearest mall, Central World Plaza was a good 10 to 15 minutes plus walk.

After a heavy breakfast, we went back to the hotel room to get changed and then took a cab down to Chinatown Sampeng Lane. I have heard about this place since the last trip but was not able to find the exact location. Instead, the cab driver drop us at the Chinatown roadside hawkers where all the seafood restaurants are, but I remember going at 4 plus so that might be the factor too.

Nevertheless, it was a gem! Great place to hunt for hair accessories!!!

We spent the whole morning and afternoon walking down the narrow aisle of Sampeng Lane and only managed to scout one end of it. It was around 2plus when we left. We are lucky to get a metered cab on the first try and managed to got back to the hotel to put down our heavy shopping box and rest for a bit.

After a short break, we took a cab down to Central World Plaza and have a late lunch over at Fuji restaurant(note: Bear's favourite!!!)

We spent the rest of the evening shopping inside Central World Plaza, enjoy the aircon. Bangkok weather was horrible, even worse than June! It's really the hottest time of the year!

I was resting on the bench when I took this, turns out to be great!

I think this was Zen department store toy department, so many bears!!!

Happy happy :)

We shopped around for a few hours, while deciding what to have for dinner. We eventually settled for KFC! I was craving for fries and western food and there was none that look appetizing to us.

We shared a 2 piece chicken meal and fries and it was great. Finally can curb my fries craving. We walked to the opposite side of the bridge outside Central World Plaza, trying to get a cab but none was willing to use meter. We eventually managed to negotiate one with a reasonable rate and got back to the hotel to enjoy the rest of the night.

And that's Day 2!

Bangkok 20th - 24th April 2012 Day 1

Day 1
We took the super early 7.15am flight to Bangkok. The one we was supposed to take was at a humanly 10plus but I guess they squeezed the two morning flights together into one. Gosh.

We managed to sneak over to T2 to McDonald's for breakfast before checking in.Totally worth it compared to the crappy BK served inside the departure hall.

Yummy Hotcakes & Sausage Mcmuffin

I spent the whole time during the flight watching TV using my handy Samsung and it was a breeze passing all that time.

Waiting for our luggage...

We took a cab to our hotel. I think it came up to around 400baht. We checked in at the comfortable Courtyard Marriott!

Our comfy king sized bed. I spy meepok!

There seems to be a trend towards see-through bathroom nowadays...kinky hehe

Super clean!

Super clean!!

In fact, it's QOO standard clean!

After having a short rest inside our hotel room, we walked over to Central World Plaza under the blazing sun for lunch!

We decided to stop at this authentic Thai restaurant

Tom Yum Soup & Prawn Cutlets & Vegetable

Shrimp Paste Fried Rice

The food was good! After lunch, we walked around the mall enjoying the aircon and then headed over to Mister Donut for my donut fix!

my favourite!

Then it was over to Platinum Mall for major hardcore shopping. To my dismay, prices on average have gone up quite a bit. It was not as attractive as before! We shopped around for quite a few hours, stopped for my French Crepe & Bear's caffeine break, then shopped for a while more before heading back to Central World Plaza to stock up on drinks and snacks, finally walked back to the hotel.

We rested for quite a bit before heading out to Chinatown for dinner!

The ever busy Chinatown!

Shark Fin Soup

Fried Rice

Fresh steamed fish

We headed for Lin Zhen Xiang to buy some local foodstuffs and it was time to call it for a night!
