Wisdom Tooth

It's such a chore to find a good and *cough..cheap..cough dentist for my wisdom tooth surgery.

The clinic which I patronize for my usual cleaning quote me $600-$900 per surgery. And I got 2 wisdom tooth, meaning X2 the amount! It is exorbitant! I don't mind paying $20+ more than usual average for cleaning since my dentist does a really good job. But charges for the surgery is a bit too much.

So I'm going Alexandra hospital instead which got some good comments from the internet. Charges are lower too - $450 to $650. I'm going to be so broke from the surgery, hope it doesn't exceed 1k :( My wisdom tooth have been bothering me since my poly years and I have avoiding the issue.

I heard getting a referral letter from polyclinics is cheaper but I'm going to forgo. From what I gathered on the internet, it's .........

Step 1:
Arrange a dental appointment at the polyclinic. (takes a few months to get a slot I think). Or walk-in at 8am and hope some idiot forget to set the alarm clock and missed his appointment so that they can slot you in.

Step 2:
Arrange for an appointment at the hospital of your choice. Go there for X Ray. Arrange for the next appointment.

Step 3:
Do the wisdom tooth surgery.

Winning the lottery seems easier than trying to get a referral letter. I reckon it's a ploy to discourage you from getting subsidized rate.

But anyway, I just can't be bothered going on merry-go-round in order to do my surgery. And subsidized patients can't choose doctors! I heard if you have a good doctor, then the surgery will be a virtually painless one. But if you get a bad one..... Big brother is sending the message that if you are poor, you can't choose. What crap.

Anyway, I have decide to make an appointment at the hospital directly for the earliest time slot and get it over with. If I wait too long, I might procrastinate again and chickened out.
