Thailand Phuket 23 Jan-26 Jan 2011

Day 2

We woke up bright and early wanting to see the beach, but got a bit delayed. The fuse of the table lamp blown when I wanted to turn it on to do my makeup and we had to stay in the room to wait for the maintenance.

These were taken around 7.30 plus if I remember correctly...

Sparse looking beach finally....we actually went yesterday afternoon but it was so hot and crowded with people sunbathing. Lots of activities over there during the day. Very lively beach.

The blue blue sky....

I luv a quiet beach!

So calm and serene...

Time for session of photo taking!

Saw starfish along the sandy beach...

Our reflections....

After having enough strolling along the beach, we went over to the nearby MacDonald for breakfast, then walked back hotel for a swim at the 3rd floor pool. Great to say, the pool was shallow enough for me to go in.

Walked over to Junceylon Mall for lunch later in the afternoon. It wasn't nearby but it within a walkable distance. Probably a 20 minutes plus walk, didn't want to waste money taking a cab.

We finally reached!

Our lunch was at Fuji Japanese Restaurant.

Yummy gyoza

These were delicious. I'm going to try and replicate the dish soon. It looks pretty easy to make; salmon fillet in breadcrumbs piped with salad sauce.

Bear's dessert for the day...haha

After filling our stomachs, we shopped around the mall. I read about the wonderful cashew nuts sold over there but couldn't find it. Little did I know I would have stumbled on it inside Carrefour if I had taken a few more steps forward that aisle. Bear was walking so fast I had to change my track, keep up the pace to follow him. Tsk. Always follow me, always follow me...mumble mumble.

We walked back to the hotel under the scorching sun later in the afternoon. It was sooo hot that we didn't spoke. Just wanted to walk as fast as possible back to the hotel. Horrible weather.

Later that evening, we went out again, wanting to enjoy some seafood (at long last!).

Taking a picture before walking over to the OTOP area. Boring place, full of open bars, some shops, more open bars and yet more open bars. Drinking paradise.

It started to drizzle when we reached Junceylon. Which was both bad luck and good luck. I thought I was going to miss my seafood dinner but at the same time, getting stuck in the middle of the pavements halfway sounds worse.

I figured the rain should be a sudden and short one, as I had read that's how the weather is around there. We went around the mall to look around, then walked over to Carrefour, trying to search for the cashew nuts, and finally found it, thanks to my expertise in hunting down junk food. It was inside there after all!

The rain did stop eventually and we left the mall, walk around, trying to find the open-air food court. We walked and walked and walked and after more walking, managed to find a better option in the end. Clean (by Phuket standards), dry and covered.

Prawns...

and fish...

Me, looking happy

After a wonderful dinner, we had a leisure stroll back, soaking into the sights of Patong nightlife. I wanted to see the red light district and off we went. It was still early when we walked there, but it was already quite happening. We turned into Blanga street, and took a quick stroll until to the end, turned left and continue our path to the hotel, walking along the beach pavement, which was so windy during the night.

Ended the night after getting some snacks and drinks at the 7-11 nearby our hotel.
