The Not-So Compulsive Shopaholic: Holiday in Taiwan

Day 2 - 10th Aug 2009

We woke up bright and early, in fact, too early. The shops weren't open yet. Fortunately, the skies were clear! It was raining throughout on our first day there.

We decided to head to Taipei City Hall to explore. Grabbed a bite at the nearby 7-11 and wanted to go Eslite bookstore but it weren't open yet.

After some endless waiting, we decide to forgo and go Taipei 101 for photo taking.

Passed by New York New York Mall on the way. Cute Statue of Liberty statue holding the mall sign .

We saw Mister Donut and decides to grab a bite while we wait for the mall to open.

I love Mister Donut!!! It's so much better than that sucky Krispy Kreme and awful Dunkin Donuts. I gouge on these donuts every night when I was there. Bangkok have Mister Donut too, I always look forward going there for the donuts.

Delicious...

After some chilling at the cafe, we head for Taipei 101.

We didn't plan on going up the observation tower as it was quite expensive. Probably the money could be put to better use, such as gorging on more food in Taipei. I know, we are both gluttons.

Next stop was lunch at Din Tai Fung. We actually wanted to go to the main branch at Hsin Yi which was really out of the way but we stumbled upon the shuttle bus at 101 that goes back to the MRT and decides to head for the SOGO branch.

So many people! We had to wait around 45 minutes for a table.

Then it was off to my favourite moment of the trip. A visit to Jill Stuart counter!!!

I bought so many things from there. The cosmetics are gorgeous! I got the black jewellery box shown as a free gift. I'm so over the moon.

After some shopping at Chung Hsiao Dong Road, we went to Miramar Entertainment Park. The place where Why Why Love was shoot. And a whole lot of idol dramas likes to use that place as a setting. Probably because of the big big ferris wheel. We took the shuttle bus from Jian Tan Mrt, where Shilin Night Market is. It was quite a distance away even though the driver drives like a maniac.

I did not ride the carrousel though. I didn't like it. No disney music.

My camera sucks at taking night shots. I didn't managed to take any nice photos. But the ride was nice though.

Snoopy! I used to love snoopy a lot. I wonder if the upcoming Universal Studios here will have a Snoopy attraction. I know the one at Osaka does.

Then it was back to Shilin Night Market for more food. I can only remember snacking on street foods throughout our trip. We didn't have a proper sit down meal except for the lunch at Din Tai Fung.
