Day 3 - 11th Aug 2009
We were planning to go to the sunflower farm today if the skies were clear, and it was!
We had breakfast at the Macdonald near our hotel. It tastes pretty much the same, except that the english muffin tastes softer and the patty made of pork.

Yummy breakfast!

After a hearty breakfast, we made our way to Taipei Rail Station. Their ticketing system are so complicated. The High Speed Rail and Rail are at the same place and it was so confusing to find the correct place to buy tickets.
To add on, the ticketing machines were not able to dispense tickets that lets you sit at the same row with your partner. We had to go to the counter itself to buy the tickets.

Finally got the correct tickets at last

The bento didn't look very appetizing. I want to try the ones in Japan!

Waiting for the train...

Wtf? Seriously? No Coke! Apparently, the locals don't like to drink coke much. Their 7-11 are full of tea and milk. Oolong tea, green tea, fruit tea, papaya milk, black sesame tea...seriously any tea and milk you can think of. Thank god I don't live there, I would literally die in that place.
Mr Bear had a good time teasing me about it though. He knows how I loves Coke and can't live without it.

Inside the train...

Scenery along the way...

The journey took around 40 plus minutes. We fumbled around the place looking for the Tao Yuan Ke Yun. I thought it will be very near to the rail station. Turns out I was wrong, it was actually quite a distance away. 10minutes perhaps?
The route to the sunflower farm ain't going to be easy.

At the bus stop

Waiting...we are taking the one that goes to Guanyin Township

That's the bus we are taking....I'm like (-_-)""" I know, typical pampered Singaporeans.

Supposedly, this is the bus stop we are getting off, according to the vague directions given.

After getting off at this bus stop, supposedly we have to walk 30-40minutes to the farm. Getting to the sunflower farm is indeed hard!
Luckily, there's also another option to call for a cab to take us there. Of course, we opt for the latter. I'm not getting lost in this place of nowhere.

Finally, we are here!!!
The sun were so bright and the wind so strong I could hardly fully open my eyes. Some of the pictures had a lot of shadow overcast. I took as much pictures as possible so that at least I could pick the good ones.

Lots of sunflowers...

Rows and rows full of sunflower...

Cute scarecrow

My hair look so messy

Trying to get a good pose with the sunflowers

Close up. Apparently, there's quite a variety of sunflower species.

Sunflowers...

More sunflowers....

I thought this is the nicest close up shot I've taken

Notice the bee?
Besides the sunflower field, they also have a cottage style playground for more photo taking.

It was really hot. I was so freaked out at getting sunburnt. We decide to seek shelter at the cafe.

Pretty decorations

This looks like the seven dwarfs from snow white

The food! Sunflower cake, sunflower flavoured jelly, and coffee ice with sunflower ice-cream.
After having our fill at the cafe, we decided to head back to Taipei.

Visiting the gift shop before going off

Mr Bear nemesis - the mouse
The lady cab driver suggests that we can take the high speed rail which was a lot faster. And it was, we were back in Taipei Main Station in 20 minutes flat. And the train were so new and comfortable.

Waiting for our train...

Inside the train. Comfortable seats. I definitely prefer this more than the rail.
After we got off at Taipei Main Station, we took the MRT to Wu Fen Pu. You know, the place where Nu Ren Wo Zui Da always mentioned about. I thought it was quite a disappointment.
Prices aren't that cheap, probably the influx of tourists? And you have to be a certain body template to wear the clothes and I'm more of a European-sized. Mmm, but still worth a look if you have the time. I bought a small canvas bag(quite pricey) and a really cheap skirt for only NT100 = $4.50.
Mr Bear stopped in the midst of shopping for some snacking.

I thought this taste pretty good. But I still prefer Hongkong's version. Somehow, Taiwan's food doesn't appeal to me while Hongkong's one makes me craves for it.
After I'm done with Wu Fen Pu, it was off to the nearby Rao He Night Market for more food!

I still prefer Shilin though

I thought this did not taste as good as it was recommended. Mmm.
I must have ate sometime wrong or my stomach just wasn't cooperative. I wasn't feeling well then and had to take a cab back to the hotel. I didn't even finished strolling the night market.
After getting some rest back at the hotel, we walked to the nearby Xi Men Ding for yet more food! Namely, the oyster mee sua, chong zhua bing, yan su chicken, mister donuts and braised duck legs. We are both such gluttons!
Off to Day 4...
